- Hi Angela! I am basically self-taught, as well. We are glad to have you join us. I began to knit when in the hospital years ago. I made a sweater for my then baby son (he's 40 now!) I started to crochet when just a kid. My aunt crocheted, and she showed me how to make a chain, from there, I figured it out. I think it is therapeutic! Be sure to share some pics of your favorite pieces.
